A beautiful complete set of six vintage Broadhurst Ironstone blue and white transferware soup plates, produced in 1977 to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the birth of Thomas Gainsborough.
Each plate features a charming English rural scene with horse-drawn wagon, woodland and cottage landscape, framed by a richly detailed border of roses, wheat and botanical decoration. The traditional Staffordshire transferware style gives the set a timeless country-house appearance.
Made at Portland Pottery, Fenton, Stoke-on-Trent, Broadhurst Ironstone was known for producing durable, high-quality tableware combining traditional English patterns with modern domestic practicality.
