Carlton Ware "Hovis" Novelty Ceramic Toast Rack

£25.00Price
Quantity

A charming novelty ceramic toast rack produced by Carlton Ware for Hovis during the late twentieth century.

Cleverly modelled as four upright slices of wholemeal bread, the design reflects the playful advertising merchandise produced by leading British ceramic manufacturers during the 1970s and 1980s.

Finished in Carlton Ware's characteristic glossy glaze with realistically textured crusts and speckled bread interiors, the rack was designed to hold slices of toast upright, helping to maintain their crispness while serving at the breakfast table. The piece formed part of a wider Hovis kitchenware collection that included teapots, butter dishes, preserve pots, egg cups, and other breakfast accessories.

Novelty advertising ceramics from Carlton Ware have developed a loyal following among collectors of vintage kitchenalia and British advertising memorabilia. This authentic example bears the official Carlton Ware England backstamp, confirming its original licensed production.
