A striking vintage Italian art glass vase from the Empoli region of Tuscany, dating from the mid-20th century. This elegant piece features a deep amethyst purple transparent glass body with a tall trumpet-shaped neck, sculptural bulbous base and raised circular pedestal foot.

The narrow neck incorporates a subtle optical twist/ribbed effect, creating beautiful reflections and movement when viewed in natural light.

Produced during the height of Empoli's coloured glass export period, the vase reflects the bold forms and jewel-like colours popular in 1960s Italian interiors.

The vase is made from single-colour transparent glass and should not be confused with cased glass examples, as there are no separate internal or external glass layers. The smooth moulded base is typical of Empoli production methods of the period.
