This example features a distinctive multi-directional pouring rim (opposed lips / twin-pour configuration) designed for controlled pouring from either side of the vessel. The form reflects Welch’s focus on practical domestic usability combined with clean, balanced proportions.

The surface is finished in layered oxide glazes, producing subtle earthy tonal variation across the body. The lug-style handle provides balance and grip, reinforcing its functional intent.

The underside bears the impressed “RW” mark, confirming production within the Stradbroke Pottery workshop in Suffolk, where standard ware was produced in batches between approximately 1965 and 1985.
