Thomas Forester Phoenix Ware Imari Wash Set - England c.1920s

£250.00Price
Quantity

A highly decorative complete four-piece antique wash set by Thomas Forester & Sons under their Phoenix Ware brand, dating from approximately the 1920s.

The set comprises a large wash basin, matching ewer, small handled vase and soap dish, all decorated in an elaborate Imari-inspired design featuring stylised phoenix birds, floral sprays, foliage and rich oriental-style decoration. Vibrant orange, cobalt blue, green and gilt details contrast beautifully against the speckled ceramic ground.

The set reflects the enduring British fascination with Japanese Imari porcelain influences during the late Victorian, Edwardian and early twentieth-century periods. Complete matching wash sets are increasingly difficult to find, making this an especially appealing decorative group for collectors of English ceramics.
